Cynthia Chinasaokwu Onyedinmanasu Erivo (born 8 January 1987) is a British actress and singer known for her outstanding contributions to both stage and screen. A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, Erivo has earned a Daytime Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award, along with nominations for two Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. She is one of the few artists to have achieved EGOT nominations (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony).

Erivo made her professional debut in London’s West End in the stage musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (2011). Her breakthrough came when she starred as Celie in the 2015-2017 Broadway revival of The Color Purple, a role that garnered her the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

In 2018, Erivo transitioned to film, appearing in Widows and Bad Times at the El Royale. Her most notable film role came in 2019 when she portrayed Harriet Tubman in the biopic Harriet.
